It is possible to get a swirl effect using AK metallic paste; if you apply a fairly heavy layer using a coarse brush, then leave it to harden a little, then polish with a soft cloth. I've only managed it by accident, but it should be repeatable!

I’ve not tried the AK paste but did have some success on road wheels with one of their weathering powders, scrubbed in with a cotton bud. I’m not at my bench and cannot be more precise, nor can I experiment right now but the cowl on a Fokker seems like a good target.

Dated Humbrol HB16 Clear doped linen

Dated Humbrol MC25 Unbleached linen

Supplied in kit:

Humbrol 103 Cream. Arcrylic.

No more debate or I’ll never finish.

I settled in airbrushing Humbrol 103 (kit supplied) after major thinning. I’m satisfied. Especially after all I’ve read.

That looks so neat! Good trick snipping the sprues down like that - somehow I've never thought of doing it that way! (Paint on the sprues, yes, but not cutting the sprues down to be more manageable... doh.)

Metal pieces done. I used Alclad Metalizer Aluminum and Testors Steel in a dapple effect for the machining.






Now onto the landing gear. Very fragile pieces

Nice work on a delicate Eindecker model so far. Just went back a bit and got caught up. I really liked the Bradley dio. Very nicely weathered Jeff!

Started decaling today. Should be easier not having to put them on before rigging.

Good decals for sure but a longer than normal drying time. The fuselage bands are in four pieces and will receive a bit of trimming tomorrow.
