Nothing for me this year though I think they have made some good choices for the starter sets. The Chinook is just too big for me in 1/72 I sold my Italeri kit years ago. The Bulldog is a great choice...

... you can thank me later.

I think the terrible Belevedre kit is only getting an outing as Mikro-Mir have announced a new tool but the rest of the vintage stuff is not of interest.

Here's hoping for some nice surprises during the rest of the year!

I suspect there's quite a bit of consolidation taking place at Hornby Towers this year after the last couple of years, what with the economy and all. Dale's comment at the end of the presentation about surprise releases later in the year is encouraging.

The stand out release for me was the new tooled Shannon class Lifeboat, along with the re-release of the Severn class. Okay probably because I drive past Llandudno lifeboat station everyday but it's great to see a non-Military subject get some love.

I actually thought it was a good year for releases, especially in 1/72. I'm rather tempted by the Chinook and Belvedere, and it's about blooming time they bought out a new tool Typhoon! I also liked the B-24H and some of the WWII gift sets. I'm definitely getting a re-released Swift!

Personally I thought it was a much better year than last year, but then I'm avoiding 1/48th.

Tempted by a Chinook but I'll need reassuring that the clear parts at the front is a better fit than the one in the video, unless they are including a free tube of filler with it!

Whilst the re-issued Superkits are good to see and I'd love another 1/24th P51D there is no way I'd pay nearly £100 for them when the tools are from the 70s. I really don't know how Airfix justifies these prices, the tools must have paid for themselves years ago. I was in my LMS in Derby today and they had the Bentley on the shelf for £119.99!!

According to the Airfix website, the list price for the P-51 is 69.99 of your British Squids.

I think some of the models shown are 3D printed tests. But yes I did see the massive gap.

Some interesting releases amongst that lot, nice to see a new Liberator but I know it will be too rich for my pockets. I may take one of the Bf-109F4s or at a push a starter Eurofighter if it's not silly money. Will be nice to see what further surprises are announced during the year.

The Bulldog and the Shannon-class Lifeboat are the two which stand out for me. Possibly a bit of nostalgia with the P.1127 and HMS Ajax.

What are the marking options for the 1/24th Mustang or haven't they been announced yet?

With Vintage Classic releases, they are usually the same as the original release. Only they are actually useable... ;-)

Ayup All,

Totally unsurprising. But yes, they’re a business. Nice looking Chinook and Libby though. I hope the plastic for that is better than what looks like waxy printing. I like the Firefly and Tiger too. And the Bulldog for some reason. I shall buy the next RNLI boat simply to accompany the original still in its shipping carton. I wonder what the ‘surprises’ will be though. I hope they’re good or someone will be being hoisted by his danglies by some !

You missed the new-tool Starter Set 1/72 P-51D & Eurofighter Typhoon.

The P-51D is probably an adapted, simplified version of the existing P-51D tool (which dates back to 2012, I believe).

A couple of years ago they released the Starter Set "simplified" Spitfire Vc and then later followed it up with a standard release (more parts etc.). I'll bet they plan to do that with the Bf.109F at least, but whether that's going to be a "surprise" for later this year or some other time in the future is open to speculation.

I was a little disappointed that the Hampden is only getting a re-release as opposed to a new tool. The re-release, in itself, suggests that no new tool is at all imminent.

I'm, like, 87.5% convinced that they still have a new tool P-47 up their sleeve. It's a very obvious gap in their range; the 1/72 kit is a senior citizen and hasn't been released in a very long time, and they've never had one that I can think of in any other scale.

The fun thing about their new "surprise announcement" policy is that even if you don't like much in the official release announcement, there's still plenty of room for future happiness!

Having breakfast yesterday with a few of my band of pirates and it was suggested that Airfix needs a new Devastator. Forgot that one and it would fill a big hole.
