Antenna wire

Post by bassman »

Recently I finished the 1/72 Airfix Spitfire. The last thing to do was the antenna wire. As you can see in the picture the result was not good (maybe for hanging out laundry it is ok) so I removed the wire. What do you use for antenna wire?

Knitting-in elastic (sometimes referred to as shirring) works well and is very, very cheap.
Best wishes

As Jim says, knitting-in elastic is excellent. Some use stretched sprue; in the past, I've even used my own hair!

Something else to consider that you may already have is any large brush or broom with synthetic bristles. The brush from our dustpan and brush set has been known to sacrifice a bristle or two to the cause when it was new. Large wallpaper pasting brushes also do the trick.

That is creative thinking. I never thought about this solution.
