Re: My library just grew......
Just picked these up from my local discount bookshop - building up my complete lack of Soviet references for an upcoming project. I'm not overly interested in modern Russian aircraft, but I'm getting more and more interested in the Soviet Cold War era.
I'm sure a 1/144 Mainstay will be appearing from me soon. I don't know much about the Su-15 but it's an interesting looking interceptor.
Also picked this up from ebay...
Cheers!

I used to have that Soviet Military Aircraft book when it first came out back in the 80s.
Never liked the sub-title of that Sukhoi book - I find it in poor taste and very disrespectful to the victims.

I 100% agree Paul - it is in rather poor taste.PaulBradley wrote: ↑December 15th, 2023, 1:45 pm Never liked the sub-title of that Sukhoi book - I find it in poor taste and very disrespectful to the victims.

After a serendipitous find, and the arrival of a very heavy parcel, I now have copies of Jane’s All the World’s Aircraft for 1954-55, 1964-65 and 1974-75. I wonder what they might help with…
Best,

I went through a Soviet phase a couple of decades ago, but not much to show for it now. I see some MiG 21s in my future, but that's about it. Maybe one of those weird WIG beasties?

I've been a bit inspired by all those Migs and Suhkois being built in the Swingers GB, and your Yak

Re: My library just grew......
No Christmas plastic for me (although I have been given some cash to fix my binoculars - I'm sure the change will be turned into kits) but I was given this fairly rare book I've been after for months - They normally go for silly money on ebay but thankfully my wife got one for a decent price.
Really interesting subject - I had no idea for example that Mohawks were still being used by the RAF as late as 1944. Sufficed to say I'm already on the lookout for a kit! It's a good book though - as well as a history of their operational use, it also has a history of the aircraft type, and a good few side view drawings showing markings etc. It should be a good reference.

What a neat find!
The Hobbycraft 1/48 kit is rather nice; comes with appropriate markings, too.

Re: My library just grew......
Thanks for the tip Paul. Tbh I wasn't thinking 1/48 but actually that might not be a bad idea, it would go well with my SEAC Thunderbolt.PaulBradley wrote: ↑December 26th, 2023, 1:43 pm What a neat find!

I've got two in 1/72, both are nice kits. The AML has two Burma based options, the Azur only and India based scheme but that wont put you off if you are after particular markings will it?! Here are some pics that may help you.
The AML kit.
The Azur kit.
Comparison.
Hope that helps - enjoy the book.

Re: My library just grew......
The Saturday before Christmas was bring and buy at the local IPMS branch, and I picked up these:
The two South American volumes were picked up for a song (thanks Martyn, if you're reading this) and take pride of place in the Latin American library. The two Putnam's specials were about the first military history books I ever bought for myself, around the mid-70s. My originals are long lost so I was very glad to pick these two up for 50p each.
I picked up the Osprey book to remind myself what a crappy modeller I am. No surprise, it worked.
The two Polish Air Force books were cheap off Ebay, and are references for the PAF 1939 project next year.

Thanks for the heads-up Al. I've actually ordered the KP/AZ models kit - dates back to 2017 apparently.beany wrote: ↑December 27th, 2023, 1:28 pm I've got two in 1/72, both are nice kits.
