Manufacture Airfix
Scale 1/72
Airfix skill level 1
Number of parts 49
Price in the UK £5.99 (2012)
Number of build options 1
Central Flying School RAF Little Rissington Gloucester 1964
First Impressions
On opening the small box I was pleasantly surprised to find a bag containing 2 light grey &. 1 clear plastic sprues.
The kit has engraved panel line that look to be a bit deep and over scale but not to bad for a kit in this price range, after a thick coat of paint applied with a hairy stick the panel lines should look OK, if you are airbrushing the paint, a coat of primer first should tone the panels down.
Airfix have thoughtfully included two nice pilot figures in this kit which will be appreciated by the younger modellers or anyone wanting to display the a/c in flight.
Instructions
These are quite comprehensive with 30 separate stages, which might be a bit difficult to follow for first time or younger builders, but having said that, looking at the way Airfix have designed the kit, the Instructions need to be this complex, due to the way Airfix have moulded the wheel wells and engine intakes.
Decals
Only markings for one a/c are supplied in Silver and Fluorescent Fire Orange. The colour and registration of the decals look good and you get a very, very extensive set of stencil markings, 62 in all
This kit looks excellent value for money and I can see it, (if you excuse the pun), fly of the shelves in the shops.
I suspect Airfix have only given you one set of markings so they can issue a starter set in possibly the Red Arrows or Yellow Jacks markings (that's only my guess)
This kit will not stay in my stash for long, as it just cries "build me", "build me", "please build me"
