I'm still hoping to do the ship. I need some 1/400 photoetch railings. Any suppliers come to mind?
You could try these guys...

Gold Medal Models: http://www.goldmm.com/;
Tom's Model Works: http://www.tomsmodelworks.com/; (also on ebay)

I see TMW4001 is a set of 3-rail & ladders; I don't see 400 rails on GMM, but a ship-set may provide railings + details.

Both are great shops, BTW.
I've had really good experience with GMM. Great service.

Thanks Darren

I've had stuff from Tom's modelworks before, and I found 2-bar rails and ladders at a good price on EBay. It's on the way.

cheers.

Andrew

Nice choice Andrew. Handrails really do lift a ship model to another level. :) .

I was thinking of doing a Mig 21 in East German markings but while at the Farnborough model show i picked up this little beauty so I'm going to do an East German version of that instead.

This morning I took delivery of Eduard's stunning 1/72nd Mig-15bis which comes with early East German markings among its options. I also have a Fujimi Mig-29A ready to go on the shelf next to the bench and this comes with late East German markings.

I think I'm sorted 8-)

Hi Guys,

I'm feeling a bit guilty about this GB because although I'd said I'd join I don't have anything in the stash And I keep telling myself I'm not going to buy anymore kits.

However I could try and get something small (i.e cheep) and although I could do another Mig-15 I did wonder if any of the eastern block airforces used any piston engined fighters before the advent of the jets in the 1950's - I thought you guys would have some suggestions - any ideas.

Cheers

Stuart

Actually, another far out question - Would an Aeroflot airliner count?

Czechs used Spitfires and Mosquitos, Bf109G10 before Avia built the S199, Me262, IL2 and IL10, Lavochkin 7, Yak 9, Pe2.
Bulgaria and Hungary used 109 G6 and Yak 9
Thats all I can think of right now.

I intended the GB to be for the Eastern Bloc countries that gained independence when the Iron Curtain fell i.e. Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and, perhaps, Ukraine and a couple of the other states that ceded from the Soviet Union a couple of years later. Aeroflot is really a Russian organisation. If you want to build one though I'd welcome the input however, on the subject of airliners, have you considered LOT, the Polish airline. They operated Russian built aircraft and a model in their livery would be a bit different.
