Re: OT's Stocking Filler
Thanks for the encouragement guys.
Work continues at a snails pace. Not because of the time spent on it but because every piece needs so much work.
I spent nearly two hours just on the engine intakes which were oval in shape & over-sized. I eventually got them sanded down to something approaching round then sanded the trailing edges of the engine intakes so that it all fits. They look good once installed but this is turning into a bit of a drama & very frustrating.
Anyway, this is where I am up to:
I plan to fit the engine rear components & get the tail planes on tonight then turn my attention to the underside. Wish me luck.

Thanks Shaun, that is good to know.ShaunW wrote:Work on all of my builds progresses at a snail's pace OT, so welcome to the club Keep at it, you're doing a great job.
Despite all the issues - none have been real show stoppers, it now looks something like a big Meteor.
So I guess it is getting there. I hope to get some primer on her tonight & then tackle paint job. I have settled on a RAF Hemp over light grey scheme although I am still waiting for some paint to arrive.
If the paint does not arrive soon (or has been ambushed by the Royal Mail. ) I may go with a green\grey camo pattern.
I was concerned about attaching the tail planes as there are no locating pins but Xtrakit have used a very clever method of moulding runners into the fuselage so its actually quite difficult to muck it up. Believe me I tried.
I am not convinced that I will make the deadline put I will try.

That looks to be a good way of attaching the tail planes and ensuring that the dihedral has a chance of looking right. I like the Hemp scheme as well, keep going OT it would be great to see this done.

Re: OT's Stocking Filler
Just a quick update, no pics as my phone is out of juice. I got a coat of primer on and it does not look too shabby at all, just a few places to refill, sand etc. The engine necelles are not a great fit so need some attention.
Once that is attended to its onto the underside colour.

Thanks Paul. She is certainly beginning to look the part.PaulBradley wrote:Looking good, OT
With the topside complets baring wing tip lights I gave her a squirt of Halfords prime to highlight any issues:
Some areas need a little attention but its all looking good.
I decided to do this build wheels up - just because shelf space is limited and this is a big bu**er!
I think these are known as 'sink marks'?
I will address this and other filling needs before closing the U\C doors and priming the underside.
Should get that done tonight before the pub.

I hope the airbrush isn't totally knackered OT. I think there's an extension on this GB over the weekend. The Management will confirm to you no doubt.
