All models are equal. Some models are more equal than others.

Re: Tales from the Basement Lab by AndrewR
Here's my first attempt at a seascape. An old CD with green and blue acrylic paint, followed by a smear of some wave making stuff (glorified PVA I suspect).
The white bits are not quite dry yet.
Meanwhile the Auster got decalled.
Roundels are a mix of Fantasy Printshop and Freightdog (and I used white backing circles too, because of the intensity of the orange). The stencilling is all home printed on clear decal paper. White backing squares were used for backgrounds.

The struts go on.
The tail ski will need a new ski on it!
There are also a couple of vertical struts missed off the kit.

A little modelling in the afternoon - it's Victoria Day holiday here today. Nice weather too. Been for a swim at the local swimming pond. Earliest ever outdoor swim here.
A bit brisk - think North Sea at Scarborough!
So having broken a ski, repairs on the ski complete.
The prop is on. The tail ski needs painting now.
There are still a few details to do, but it's coming together.

And some evening Vampireology
Popped the pilot in the 'pit and then added the canopy. I had to trim a little at front and rear of the fuselage to get an acceptable fit. I'm going to use silver decal strips to frame it.

It's been my favourite build for quite some time, which is strange really given the simplicity and issues with it!
My wife is trying to persuade me to scratchbuild some penguins to accompany it.

Some bits of sprue about 1cm long, sanded down to an elongated teardrop shape and painted black and white with a touch of yellow. slivers of plastic card for the beaks - et voila - Emperor penguins!AndrewR wrote:

I was thinking of Miliput, as I will also need to modify some figures with arctic style parkas , but the sprue idea is good too.Purplethistle wrote:Some bits of sprue about 1cm long, sanded down to an elongated teardrop shape and painted black and white with a touch of yellow. slivers of plastic card for the beaks - et voila - Emperor penguins!AndrewR wrote:

Canopy framing on the Frog Vampire completed. Varnishing to come.
You can see how crude the Frog kit is compared to the Airfix T.11, which seems to have popped up on the bench (it was a birthday prezzie ).

And some aluminium paint on the Vampire. I've completely run out, so I have to get more to finish this.

Nice sails on the Victory. Which scheme for your Vampire? You seem to be building a few 'V' subjects at the present time

Having built ye olde Frogge Vampyre, I thought doing a modern version would be nice! The Airfix one will use the kit decals - a few orange stripes!Clashcityrocker wrote:Nice sails on the Victory. Which scheme for your Vampire? You seem to be building a few 'V' subjects at the present time
