Yup; I decided the remaining surface detail could take an NMF finish.

Re: Paul's Potez
A quick undercoat of dark grey - it was available - shows just a couple of minor seam issues to be tidied up:
Should be able to get the first NMF coat on tomorrow.

Re: Paul's Potez
OK, first NMF coat on!
There are a few surface flaws I'll need to fix, then I'll give it a second coat tomorrow.

If there are surface flaws they are well hidden to my eye.
That really is a smooth paint job. I'm jealous.
Remember gloves!

Re: Paul's Potez
Cheers, Sissel. There's a little bit of a seam issue on the port wingroot, a couple of scribing issues and some minor sanding marks under the tailplanes. Nothing too hard to take care of. I use Testors Metalizer for metal finishes - pretty durable and gives a nice, even finish. And, yes, I do wear a glove when I'm spraying!

Re: Paul's Potez
I see that now. I'm sure you'll fix it without troubles. It does look smooth and nice.
Ah, I meant gloves for handling/touching the plane. If I've painted something silver/aluminium, I should use gloves. But usually forget it and get finger marks on. Then I have to smooth out or at worst, repaint.

Re: Paul's Potez
That looks great in NMF, Paul. I avoid doing those like the plague so I'll be watching with interest to see how you do panels, etc..

Re: Paul's Potez
Cheers, David - I'll be masking off odd panels with Post-it notes, then spraying a slightly darker aluminium.
OK, understand now. Metalizer paint generally doesn't mark up too badly (at least, the non-buffing ones...), so I don't worry about it too much - especially on this first coat.Prisca wrote:Ah, I meant gloves for handling/touching the plane. Re: Paul's Potez
Cheers, Jim.
More progress on this US holiday.
Got a second coat of NMF on yesterday, then masked up a couple of panels and control surfaces for a slightly darker metallic paint, as seen in photos of the real thing:
As you can see, I also got the Swiss red on the fin/rudder units - a bit of nifty Post-it Note masking, if I do say so myself...
Not seen here are the underside gun pods - I had another read through my references and decided that B-2 didn't carry the big pod - that was B-1. But it did carry the standard Potez pods, both of them, on the undersides.
I also sprayed a coat of Future, so the model is ready for decals and a light panel line wash, which, I hope, will really make the lightly-rescribed surface detail pop.

Re: Paul's Potez
Fairly flying along here.....
Got the decals on. Kora's instructions leave something to be desired - I'll excuse them, as they are clearly a small Czech company - but they don't make it immediately clear that the decals are covered by a continuous coat of varnish, meaning they need to be trimmed right up to the edge of the decal. Guess who found out the hard way... Anyways, with that sorted, they did sit very well on the model and are a delight to use. Here's where I'm at:
(The canopy is just resting in place - but it shows you how it'll look.)
