John's proferred list
aka the Forlorn Hope ...
OK, here's a list presented for comment, selection, whatever. Obviously, given my track record, I won't do all these, but any thoughts on what would be best (or worst) for the display will help focus me ….
First, since I suggested Revell (GB), I have these, all huge favorites:
H-639 Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat
H-654 Sopwith Triplane
H-633 The S.E.5a
Next, I have this, either in a couple poses or even the completed box-art display, which I owe from 2 years ago..
Airfix 95th Rifleman
Then, another of my favorite aircraft …
Airfix Hawker Demon
I also have the Aeroclub Demon, if you'd rather that.
Next, I offer a choice of one or two of the following 1/32 cars. I love the older cars.
Airfix: Bugatti, Cowley, Darracq, DeDietrich, Lanchester, Ford T's, MG K3, Mercedes, Pr.Henry, Rolls'
Matchbox: Bugatti, MB SSKL, MG TC Sport, Jag SS100, Pack.Victoria, RR.Phantom
And lastly, trains !!! When I was a young 'un, I had HO trains, but no kits like these, so I'd like to offer:
One engine: Biggin Hill, Evening Star, Mogul, or Harrrow.
and one coach from the RB/Kitmaster line, with Peco interior
or a few "goods" vans, I think I have most all.
Thoughts ?

Thanks for being the first to post up a list John. An interesting and representative variety.

Re: John's proferred list
First of all you wouldn't just have to offer new builds, so assuming you've also got some CBKs you prepared earlier, I would go for a sample from following.
* SE5a
* Riflemen - this is you last chance
* Airfix Hart
* Any of the MB cars, though the RR and Packard I've not seen built
* I've a Mogul built (well my dad has it atm) but any of the other engines.

Re: John's proferred list
I forgot I started these http://www.uamf.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=2219;
I could even more the build in the "Ruddy Well Finish" forum
I think there's a Hart thread also running loose ...
If it weren't for non-completes, I'd have no completes at all ....

Re: John's proferred list
I am going to switch from the Hart to the Demon, since Paul wants to do a Hart.
So my short list, given James' comments, is now:
Revell(GB) H-639 1/72 Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat
Revell(GB) H-654 1/72 Sopwith Triplane
Revell(GB) H-633 1/72 The S.E.5a
Airfix 95th Rifleman, either in a couple poses or even the completed box-art display
Airfix Hawker Demon; I also have the Aeroclub Demon, if you'd rather that.
Matchbox: Packard Victoria or Rolls Royce Phantom (need to inspect & pick one)
Kitmaster/Airfix engine Biggin Hil
Kitmaster Corridor 2nd brake coach with Peco interior
Other then the Flower, no ships really excite me; I realize we are short in this category, but not sure I can help out.

Re: John's proferred list
It had better be the complete box art display - you've been teasing us with the damn things for nearly two years now... (plus I genuinely think they will be one of, if not the highlight of the table John. The TV series Sharpe and the actor Sean Bean (no relation) himself are still very popular over here).jRatz wrote: Airfix 95th Rifleman, either in a couple poses or even the completed box-art display
I've don't think I've seen either of the kits built so it would be great to have either or both of them on the table.jRatz wrote: Matchbox: Packard Victoria or Rolls Royce Phantom (need to inspect & pick one)
My favourite steam locomotive of all time. I remember them from the late 60's taking me to see my Gran and there are several preserved and still running - one not 30 miles from me. Not that you'd be under any pressure to get it 1000% accurate or anything, but I'm just saying...jRatz wrote:Kitmaster/Airfix engine Biggin Hill
Go for it John - you can never have too many trains on a table IMHO.
cheers
Al.

I can see why you're torn between the two, John. Beautiful cars both.
For preference, and purely subjective, I'd go with the Rolls.

Re: John's proferred list
The Airfix Demon is out -- see here for explanation http://www.uamf.org.uk/viewtopic.php?p=173661#p173661;
I could go ahead and make a decent one from both kits and call it a conversion, I'll have to go see if this ever showed up in the old Airfix magazines ...
The Aeroclub kit appears to be too young, 1989, by 5 years ....

Re: John's proferred list
Another idea, John - let's both do the Hart. I have a Modeldecal sheet with lots of alternative markings, so no need for us to both do the same a/c. When I made my list, I hadn't realized you'd put down this kit as well - and I feel a bit bad that you changed your choice because I chose the same kit. No reason we can't both do it, if we plan it right.

Re: John's proferred list
That's OK, Paul, I have 3 aircraft still on my list and other things.
As for the 'tween wars GB, I am shedding bench days in Feb, every time I turn around, and there seems to be enough that I can drop out without harm. I have a review for AMPS that needs my full attention.
I've got the same ModelDecal sheet, several times over, BTW ....

Re: John's proferred list
As these are "just" models, and not something like box art displays, I don't see any reason to hide them away ??? James ???
I have gotten out my 3 Revell(GB) aircraft and can do the F4F as part of the Naval Air GB in March and can do the S.E.5a and Sopwith Triplane in my Great War workbench thread.
I have the Matchbox RR out and probably do this one in the Auto forum.
Here are the box art and the detail paint instructions
Color codes are:
A, D, H - black
B, K - wine red (B is exterior, K is interior)
C - red brown
E - dark tan leather
F - natural wood
G - rosewood
J - dark grey
L - aluminum
M - brass
N - silver
Any comments, thoughts, suggestions on these ?
I have noted the two wine red are interior/exterior .... more texture than color, I guess.
But the 3 black do not have a pattern - exterior body, chassis, detailing, underside ? Any thoughts on what I might do to get some variation into it all ?
Lastly, this is a specific RR - does anyone have a suggestion for a differently painted vehicle ? And if so, provide pix ...

OK, here's two started, on my workbench ...
And are there any comments/suggestions on the RR (http://www.uamf.org.uk/viewtopic.php?p=175429#p175429;), I have it out and want to start early in March.
