Nice work in the pit Jim, I notice that the kit decals for the 1/72 Wespe version are the same for the 1/48 version of this kit in that they are missing the wasp's head, so I guess that you would have to paint your own if you wanted to build it with that scheme.

Thanks guys, enjoying it so far, no major glueing yet, but it's got a good feeling to it.

I didn't get any early o'clock painting done, lost the half hour I was going to use, bed was much more comfortable than sittign at the dinner bench

Cheers

I like the cockpit bits, Jim.

I really must invest in a punch & die set.

Thanks Martin and Nigel, and yes the punch and die is a very handy toy tool. Mine is one of the Micromark ones. http://www.micromark.com/micro-punch-set,8603.html, a nice set, I don't think it has as wide a selection of sizes as a Waldorn set though.

Got a couple of hours tonight so got the figures and cockpit painted up.

First time to try out some cheap finger nail paint brushes, they were very cheap and I didn't hold much hope, but they have surprised me and are quite good. I used them for the lines on the figures and to give the instruments some marks.

It seems to be a long time since I last saw one of your builds Jim and you're doing some great work here, that interior looks excellent 8-) I have the 1/48th version of this in the stash and it's not a bad old kit really, not up with the latest Eduard kits for sure, but nice looking all the same.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Thanks folks, yes it's been a long while, I've had sporadic bursts of modelling but not accomplished much, so hoping to get a completion on this one

Oh canopy masking joy o joy that's done, there's two hours work right there.... I've not got Blohms knack at speed masking.
Image
I tried parafilm for the curve at the rear, and gave up swearing again, and went back to my comfort masking zone, parafilm works for me about 50% of the time.

Image
Got the fuselage cemented together and the nose on, will need a little bit of blending in, the shape is slightly off compared to the fuselage.

Image
Looks like a bit of sanding to fit for the rear end as well.

Image
Cemented the radiators in further forward than they supposed to be, (should be on those two location pins), it really looks lost at the back of the nacelle. Also thought I'd box it in and add a roof, as there is quite a large empty void above the intake lip.

Let everything set up now.

Cheers

Canopy blitzing should be considered an actual blitz subject!

BTW: Are you using Mr.Hobby masking agent?

Canopy blitzing, start with a sitfire canopy progressing to an He-111, that'd be fun....

Yep masking fluid is Mr Hobby, "Mr Masking Sol R", my normal way of masking, tape edges and fill with the fluid.
The bottle shows covering a canopy with it, and cutting the frames away, I never think about trying it though.

I recently acquired some parafilm to try on some 1/48 canopies, I don't think though I would contemplate using it on the greenhouse that is the 1/72 Bf110's canopy because that just would not be fun.
I've not actually tried the way you have done it either Jim, maybe that is something else to try.
