Jim,

If that little lot only took you two hours, I think you've done pretty well - even if it wasn't fun!

Martin it's definitely one of those tasks that is good to have behind you.

How good is the fit of the undercart doors, when closed...
Image
Not the best I've struck, they are definitely meant to be open, they have nice little locating pins and recesses in the sides of the wheel bay to position them open. So some reinforcing and filling to do.

Image
Blended in nose cone, didn't take much effort, then marked out the recess and filled the trough , sorry pretty hard to see in the piccie. I had already backed the area with plasticard in case I had some sand through, and it got close in a couple of spots.

Also made a start on the form for the gun pod.
Image
Traced the side profiles form the decal instructions and transferred them to plasticard, cemented together and reinforced the joints with sprue. I'll let them set solid then sand the side to side profile.

Cheers

The masking looks great. Can I pay you to do mine? :)

Thanks Toby, just send out the first class air tickets and I'd be more than happy to do the masking for you. :ha:

Had a pleasant time just before breakfast sanding the ribs of the form and filed it in with milliput. Kids were doing "What I like" posters for school, and we were chatting, a very pleasant time.
Image
Let it set up and then I'll sand it to final shape and prime it to see any icky bits.

Fettling with the engine nacelles this afternoon, the oil cooler intake looked wrong to me, and I didn't like the solid intake.
Image
The original on the right, so sliced a bit off the central hump.
Image
Then went around the upper of the intake with a pin a in vice, once through I was able to use a sharo knife to open up the rest of the intake, and thin the lip a bit.

That is coming along a treat Jim.

I love your work on the interior. I may have to add some to mine as the Airfix kit is sadly lacking in any sidewall detail.

Zooming along with this one Jim, the extra detail certainly gives the cockpit a lift. Same with the Nacelles, a simple fix but oh so effective.

Excellent Jim, the additional work you are doing on this is well worth the effort.

Thanks folks, this is the most model building I've done in a long, long time, I feel liek I'm moving along too which feels good.

Finished boxing in the radiator intakes, and added a little bar across the intake.
Image
Also filled and blended in the undercarriage doors, much much better.

First round of sanding on the gun pod, and first dabs of filler..
Image
Hopefully just another round of filling and sanding on the pod. Must start looking for a barrel to pop in it...

Cheers

It's good to see you back in action Jim, a worthy bit of extra detailing on the intake, it's the little details like that which can make a big difference to the finished article.
