OT's Yellow Nosed Emil *** Finished ***
Re: OT's Yellow Nosed Emil
Shaping up nicely O-T. Very sharp.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale

Cheers Jeff. She looks mighty fine covered in primer:jssel wrote:Shaping up nicely O-T. Very sharp.
Nothing to fix - a first for me so tonight I will get the RLM02 on the upper surfaces.
It's my birthday so things may be delayed by having a meal out with the family.
On the positive side I have recieved a 'Joy Pack' from AZ Models.

Re: OT's Yellow Nosed Emil
I made progress this weekend.
Splinter camo of RLM02 & RLM70 was applied to the upper surfaces then masked.
Next RLM65 was applied to the undersides & fuselage sides.
Lots of masking - plenty to go wrong! I see I have missed off the part that holds the drop-tank & a little filler is required at the underside wing to fuselage join. How did I miss that?
There will now be a slight interlude whilst I decide how to do the mottle effect & what markings I am going to use.
Yes I know I should of thought about all this by now but I only got as far as wanting to build a yellow nosed 109.

I don't mind it really, just another technique that you have to learn.Chris wrote:Masking is always a pain.
Which beings me on to my first attempt at mottling.
Not too bad I think & should look good once the decals are applied.
As you can see the unmasking went without a hitch. so just a few bits to touch up, attach the nose cowl & rudder.
A Klear coat was applied this morning before I left for work so she may get some decals tonight.
Better start work un the U\C & prop too.
EDIT:
I also need to fit the aerial mast, air filter, cannons & tone down that yellow.

Re: OT's Yellow Nosed Emil
I did Chris. I decided that it was something that I should learn & I couldn't be bothered to make a template.Chris wrote:Went freehand with the mottle OT?
I think it looks ok for this scale. Started decalling yesterday & adding a few more bits.
Should be finished before the deadline - family life permitting.

With the decals it looks fine.
I can't control the air pressure of my cheapo compressor so I am forced to use templates for that sort of thing.

Re: OT's Yellow Nosed Emil
This one nearly hit the wall yesterday. After completing everything I sprayed the model with Humbrol Matt varnish from a rattle can & it came out blotchy & gloss all over.
So I left it for 24 hours and sprayed some Testors flatt coat over it which seems to have rescued the situation. So here she is:
Will post some gallery pics tomorrow.
