Cheers Nigel, this is the state of the build, the wings and the propeller have been assembled, one thing to note with this kit is that although it fits together perfectly (so far) there are no locating lugs and the sprue gates intrude on the joining faces and do need trimming back.

Great progress so far. Maybe no lugs is a plus fit alignment and the gates should rub down with a sanding stick. At any rate, looking good.

Thanks Jeff neither of those points have been a problem, we are just used to lugs being included today.
The story continues- according to the instructions the exhausts are fitted from the inside before joining the fuselage halves, when I dry fitted them they - - - just fell through the hole in the fuselage ?- so painting the edges of the exhaust aperture was a waste of time and thin plastic card has been glued inside the nose to seat the exhausts later.

It seems to be progressing well, despite the decal problems Has anyone blitzed a limited run kit before? Not for the faint-hearted

With the cockpit assembled the fuselage can be joined up.
The fuselage is joined up and set aside to dry, the next stage will be to glue the wing to the fuselage and again leave it to one side to dry.

With the fuselage and wing joined together and a wait of fifty minutes it was dry enough to begin adding the tailplanes, radiators etc. These parts were removed from the sprues and cleaned up as I waited.
The tailplanes make this look far more like a Spitfire now, they are not visible in this shot but the radiators are also in place. Just a few more parts to go and the model will be ready for paint.

Thanks Mike, Toby, the only reason this is moving quickly Toby is because it is OOB (apart from separating the elevators) is flash free and the parts fit perfectly.

There was a slight step at the trailing edge wing root join so a little skim of filler was applied to level it off, when this is dry and has been rubbed down the model will be ready to be painted.

The tip of the fin/rudder has been given its second coat of white and the undersides have been painted blue.

I'm almost tempted to do the same aircraft in the scheme I posted earlier!
Looking good, though.
