Lancfan's Lambeth Spitfire- FINISHED at 20 HOURS, 7 MINUTES

Post by lancfan »

This will be my third (and probably last) blitzed Spitfire,it is also the one build which may time out and crash and burn. This will be a model of the IWM spitfire 1a R6915 as it is now on display at Lambeth after being re-hung from the ceiling after the building work. The model will be built over a twenty four hour period starting at 10.00 AM on Saturday 23rd August.

I have found the first pictures of this spitfire in the refurbished museum display so it will now be displayed in the new climbing attitude shown online, I dismissed the thought of actually hanging the model from the shelf above to display it and I have decided to make my own stand for this model as part of the blitz- this new stand will have to fit amongst the models already on display without taking up any shelf space at all and also allow the model to be displayed above the full shelf of models which will surround the area underneath this new model. The build will begin tomorrow morning with construction of the stand so that it is ready for use when the model is complete.

I have cut out the main parts for my stand, the flat base is of course plastic card, the pillar is cut from the body of a cheap pen topped with a piece of clear sprue.
They now need assembling and then left to dry.

Cheers Jeff.
The flat stand has been assembled and is now put to one side to dry until late this evening when the base can be painted.

And now on to the aeroplane itself, but first- coffee!
